Live Whale in London!!!!

thanks for dropping by!!
A rescue team of medics and vets successfully lifted the River Thames whale on to a barge hoping to take it back towards the sea.

An inflatable pontoon system was used to support the 15ft northern bottle-nosed whale before a crane lifted it out of the water close to Battersea Bridge in central London.
The barge then started to move downriver towards the Thames Estuary where the results of tests will determine whether it is safe to release it back into deeper water.
Blubber and blood samples have already been taken from the animal to assess its health.
Thousands of onlookers gathered on bridges and the embankment cheered as the whale was moved using a sling which had been carefully wrapped around pontoons.
The animal, still surrounded by the yellow inflatable tubes in which it had been transported down river, could be seen wriggling and flapping its tail as it was hauled upwards and lowered down on to the large boat.
Rescuers said they were keen to move the whale away from Battersea because of fears that the rising tide would be unsafe for the team holding it there.
a man for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue group, said earlier: "Should the veterinary results be positive it would be released. Because of the location we have a problem with the tide when it starts racing back in."
Scotland Yard said the crowd watching the operation numbered 2,000 to 3,000 and were being "very co-operative".
Battersea Bridge was closed due to the size of the crowd and warnings had been issued to spectators about the rising tide, police said.

I love comments :)
